Custom-compounded medications designed to meet your unique needs.
Our lab uses a variety of techniques to prepare medications, including mixing, blending, milling, and encapsulating.
We also use specialised equipment, such as a compounding hood and laminar flow hood, to ensure that the medications are prepared in a clean contaminant free environment.
Our pharmacists work closely with Prescribers to understand the specific needs of each patient and to develop customised medications that meet those needs.
Our Compounding lab adheres to strict guidelines and regulations set forth by the Pharmacy council and other regulatory agencies to ensure the safety and efficacy of the medications produced.
All our equipment undergoes rigorous monthly and or yearly certification by NATA to ensure that our equipment is operating at the highest of standards.
At Shire Pharmacy, we specialise in the art and science of pharmaceutical compounding. This allows us to create customised medications from scratch, tailored to meet the specific needs of each patient—particularly when commercially available options are unsuitable or unavailable.Â

Our compounding lab is designed specifically for the preparation of customised medications, separately for both Veterinary and Human Preparations. The lab is typically always staffed by 2 trained pharmacists, and three different technicians.
The lab is equipped with specialised equipment and tools that allow for the preparation of a wide range of medications, including oral medications, topical creams, otic preparations and more.
We can prepare medications in different dosage forms such as Capsules, tablets, liquids, creams, and. We also specialise in the production of mini-flavoured capsules.
At Omega Compounding we have the capacity to flavour our preperations with popular flavours including: Bubble gum, Cherry, Chocolate Grape, Lemon, Mint, Orange, Raspberry, Strawberry and Vanilla. Additionally, patients can also request more unique flavours such as banana, coconut, mango, peach, watermelon, and many more. The availability of specific flavours may vary depending on suppliers and the specific medication being compounded.
We can adjust the strength and concentration of medications to ensure the correct dose is given to patients based on its weight, age, and medical condition.
Our team is able to combine multiple medications into a single product to simplify treatment for pet owners and reduce the number of medications the animal needs to take.
Our experienced team can create alternative medication forms that are easier to administer, such as transdermal patches, medicated ear drops, or topical creams.
It is important to note that all our compounding work is carried out by a licensed and trained compounding pharmacist who has expertise in preparing these medications. The pharmacist must also adhere to strict regulations and guidelines set forth by the pharmacy council and other regulatory bodies to ensure the safety, efficacy, and quality of the compounded medication.
